Meet your instructor
Aleks Popovich
Aleks Popovich is a Senior Management Executive with nearly 40 years’ experience in aviation travel and trade. He has held key senior roles at British Airways and the International Air Transport Association (IATA), with significant Commercial, Operational, Technology, Change Leadership and Digital Transformation responsibilities.
He joined British Airways in 1982 and held several key positions in the airline. His last role was as Head Business Transformation, responsible for best practice for Business Change, leading Business Intelligence and also Operational Research to support executive decision-making.
Aleks was also the airline’s Head Passenger Revenue Management, responsible for determining best match of price, demand and capacity to maximize route network contribution. Prior to this role he was Head World Cargo Network Management, responsible for growing, protecting and exploiting the route network in order to maximize contribution. Aleks also worked in IT and Operational Research.
He joined IATA from British Airways in 2005 and his senior roles included Global Head Cargo, and Senior Vice President Customer, Financial and Digital Services.
In his role as SVP Customer, Financial and Digital Services, Aleks led IATA’s Customer Service activities, Financial Settlement Operations, Products and Services, Business Intelligence, and Distribution Standards including industry adoption of Airline Retailing.
Aleks also created, sponsored and moderated significant IATA global events to move aviation industry talk to action, including the World Cargo, World Passenger, World Financial, Airline Retail, and Aviation Data Symposiums.
Aleks has a First Class Honors Degree and Doctor of Philosophy, both in Mathematics from Oxford University, and MBA from Lancaster University.
