Course description
Human Factors is the science of understanding human interactions/performance with other elements of a system with the goal of reducing human errors, increasing productivity and enhancing safety. The field entails a combination of numerous disciplines, such as psychology, sociology, engineering, biomechanics, industrial design, physiology, anthropometry, interaction design, visual design, user experience and the user interface design.
This course will start by looking at what is the area of Human Factors and some of the aspects it covers, followed by looking at some of the key modules and theories in that area. After these areas we will then look at some of the steps that have been introduced to attempt to reduce the risk of accidents and incidents from occurring and finally we will take a look at a couple incidents and accidents and see how the modules/theories and solutions can be observed.
The aim of this course is to increase safety and provide the tools to reduce the risk of accidents and incidents from occurring.

At the end of this course, participants will be able to:

- Describe various theories and models used in the field
- Apply various theories and models to accidents and incidents to find the root causes

Meet your instructor
Jonathan Sinclair
Jonathan Sinclair gained a degree in Human Biology with an elective in Psychology prior to commencing his career as a commercial pilot with flying several thousands of hours flying for both short and long haul carriers. Further to this he also works as a lecturer at the University of West London, teaching various subjects from human factors in aviation, and contemporary issues to talent management.
Passionate about safety and building a better future for aviation, Jon enjoys interacting with students both currently working in the field or looking to get into the industry, he has also developed iOS apps to assist commercial pilots with their systems knowledge of various Boeing and Airbus types.
