Course description
Performance-based Navigation represents a shift from sensor-based to performance-based navigation. PBN routes and procedures are designed to meet a navigation specification defined in terms of accuracy, integrity, continuity, and functionality for the aircrew operations.
During this course the participants will be introduced to the concept of PBN and will gain an understanding of the different navigation infrastructures. This course will also introduce a set of aircraft and aircrew requirements needed for performance-based navigation operations. Moreover, this course will give an overview of guidance for pilots on general knowledge for PBN related operations. The basic functions of Global Navigation Satellite Systems and the principles of the GBAS Ground-Based Augmentation System / SBAS Satellite-Based Augmentation System / ABAS Aircraft-Based Augmentation System will be discussed and explained. In addition, the course will identify the benefits of Performance Based Navigation and describe differences between RNAV and RNP.
Training is prepared according to learning objectives required for ATPL (A) by EASA Part-FCL.
