Aviation Safety Investigation
Develop the competence to investigate safety events, identify systemic causes, and strengthen organizational learning before incidents escalate into accidents.
@ Aeroclass
Course description
Aviation Safety Investigation is a critical discipline for preventing accidents by learning from incidents, serious incidents, and safety-related events. In today’s complex operational environment, even minor occurrences can reveal hidden hazards, human factors challenges, and systemic weaknesses that require structured analysis and corrective action.
This class provides participants with the knowledge and skills to conduct systematic, objective, and learning-focused safety investigations across aviation operations. Emphasis is placed on understanding why events occur, rather than assigning blame, and on using investigation outcomes to strengthen Safety Management Systems (SMS) and organizational resilience.
Through practical examples and case studies threaded throughout the course, participants will explore the evolution of safety thinking, accident causation theories, investigation processes, human factors analysis, and investigation reporting. The training supports participants in developing investigation reports and recommendations that withstand scrutiny and contribute meaningfully to safety improvement.
Learning outcomes
