Airside Safety and Operations
Develop the knowledge and practical skills to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient airside operations, covering hazards, human factors, vehicle control, turnaround procedures, and runway safety.
@ Aeroclass
Course description
Airside operations present some of the most dynamic and risk-sensitive environments in aviation. Protecting aircraft, ground staff, and infrastructure while maintaining operational efficiency requires a deep understanding of safety procedures, regulations, and best practices.
This course provides a comprehensive introduction to airside operations and safety, combining regulatory frameworks with practical applications. Participants will explore the responsibilities of the aerodrome operator, airfield layouts and standards, signage and markings, and meteorological considerations. Core operational topics include safe vehicle control, ramp operations, aircraft turnaround planning, fueling, hazardous materials, and personal protective equipment.
The course also emphasizes human factors, safety culture, FOD prevention, wildlife management, and coordination with service partners. Special attention is given to runway safety, accident reporting, emergency response, and the integration of Safety Management Systems (SMS).
By completing this course, participants will gain the tools and insight to recognize and mitigate hazards, uphold international safety standards, and contribute to efficient, incident-free airside operations.
