Rob Britton
Meet your instructor
Dr. Rob Britton has had a hybrid career, more than 50 years in and close to the airline industry combined with extensive teaching experience, and this experience is a distinct qualification. Most of his industry experience was at American Airlines, where he held a range of leadership roles in marketing, planning, and operations.
He began his airline work in 1984 at the former Republic Airlines (now part of Delta), on the new team – led by the legendary Stephen Wolf – that executed one of the most remarkable financial turnarounds in airline history. As American’s managing director of advertising and marketing planning, Rob was part of the team that rebuilt the brand after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.
Rob earned a Ph.D. in geography from the University of Minnesota, and a postdoctoral certificate from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. Originally a geography lecturer, he is now an adjunct professor at Georgetown University and Imperial College London, and an annual guest lecturer at more than 25 business schools worldwide, including Yale, St. Gallen, and London Business School.
He has published more than 125 articles in popular media, travel-industry publications, and refereed academic journals, most recently in MIT Sloan Management Review.
His teaching style is energetic, inclusive, and fun.
