Ana Maria Cogollos Hernandez
Meet your instructor
Ana María Cogollos is a Biologist and Environmental Engineer with over 15 years of specialized experience in aviation safety management and wildlife hazard risk management at airports. She has designed and implemented Wildlife Hazard Management Programs at major international airports in Colombia — including El Dorado International Airport (Bogotá) and Ernesto Cortissoz International Airport (Barranquilla) — in full compliance with ICAO Annex 14 and Doc. 9137 Part 3, achieving over 80% compliance rates, a 30% annual reduction in wildlife-related safety events, and zero serious airside incidents.
As an independent consultant, she has provided technical advisory services to ICAO, ACI, and Civil Aviation Authorities across Latin America and the Caribbean. Her international project portfolio includes a comprehensive Wildlife Hazard Risk Assessment for the construction of the second runway at Jorge Chávez International Airport (Lima, Peru), commissioned by the Peruvian Civil Aviation Authority through ICAO's Technical Cooperation Bureau; and wildlife control regulatory compliance verifications for the commissioning and Phase III Aerodrome Certification of Palmerola International Airport (Comayagua, Honduras), on behalf of the Honduras Civil Aviation Authority (AHAC). She has also conducted aviation safety management and wildlife hazard compliance reviews at three major Argentine airports — Ezeiza, Aeroparque, and Córdoba — as part of the ACI APEX Program.
She is a certified international instructor with over 19 editions of the Wildlife Hazard & Bird Strike Prevention course delivered across 8 countries, training more than 100 civil aviation specialists through COCESNA's Central American Institute for Aeronautical Training (ICCAE). She delivers training in both in person and virtual formats, integrating competency-based methodologies, practical case studies, and real-world field applications. Ana María is Board Member and Statistics Coordinator of CARSAMPAF, the CAR/SAM Regional Bird/Wildlife Hazard Prevention Committee, with influence across more than 20 countries, and has served on the editorial committee of the CARSAMPAF Journal. Ana Maria is also a regular invited speaker at Master's programmes and university seminars on aviation safety and wildlife hazard management across the region.
